Maria da Conceição Neves is a geophysics professor at the University of Algarve where she teaches courses on climate sciences, Geographic Information Systems, and soild Earth geophysics. Her areas of work include Land-Ocean-Atmosphere interactions and the use of storymaps in geoscience teaching. Her research is focused on various topics related to geodynamics and tectonic processes, such as numerical modeling of earth deformation processes, seismic hazard assessment and the use of gravity data in hydrology studies. Her primary research interest at the moment is to comprehend how subsurface processes, such as groundwater level and earthquakes, are affected by the global climate system and ongoing changes in hydrological loads.
